Reverend Tommy Baker has been our pastor since 1988. Pastor Baker has been instrumental in leading the church in consistent growth and expansion. After purchasing property in downtown Winder with the intent of building new facilities to handle the overflow crowds he soon discovered that the property would not be able to handle the new growth. Leading the church to sell that property along with the existing facilities, we purchased ten acres behind Akins Ford and built a new building. With the thought that this new building would one day house our gymnasium and fellowship hall, it was built to that criteria. After just five years in that building, we started construction on the new sanctuary, offices, and classrooms. We are glad to say that construction is completed and we have moved into our brand new sanctuary. Thank you Pastor Baker for your leadership and foresight in bringing this dream to a reality.
In 2007, ACW was blessed to add to our staff, Rev. Chris Ritchey and his wife April. Chris has been a tremendous blessing in the areas of church administration and also outreach. Having evangelized for five years, he was able to bring fresh ideas in regard to outreach having seen what worked in other successful churches. We are also blessed to have April here at ACW! She has tremendous talent and anointing in areas of singing and music. Together Chris and April have revitalized our sanctuary choir and have shared their burden and zeal with our church family.
We also want to honor Bishop and Sister Hammond for their years of faithfulness and labor. Without their dedication, determination, and steadfastness, ACW would not be where it is today. Bishop Hammond still blesses the church today with his teaching, wit, humor, guitar skills, singing, but most of all, his consistent walk with God. He has set the bar high for us to follow and has been a tremendous example of christian character and leadership. We love you Bro. Hammond! We also honor Sister Hammond and thank her for the years of service to the people of ACW and Winder.
